CP Story

If the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is the only religious context you know, chances are the words "Cooperative" and "Program" go together in such a way that you do not even think about their pairing; "Cooperative" is to "Program" like "Baptist" is to "church" or "hot" is to "dog." Consequently, their familiar linkage creates a kind of dulling effect: "'Cooperative Program?' Yeah, it's one of those Nashville things. I don't know what it is, but it's always been around."

The Cooperative ProgramOn the other hand, if the SBC world is a new one to you, the Cooperative Program may sound painfully bureaucratic, one of those denominational necessities named specifically, it would seem, in order to distance it from the real interest of regular church folks - bureaucratic, archaic or just plain boring.

In reality the Cooperative Program (CP) deserves more than just a glazed look or an involuntary yawn. The CP is one of the most dynamic, creative responses to doing ministry ever conceived. It has funneled millions of dollars successfully and efficiently to ministers and ministries around the globe.
